The Situation

The VANA Childcare Development Program is a holistic care initiative operating across Zimbabwe through a network of nine project partners in Bulawayo, Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Motoku, Marondera, and Harare. Since 2006, the program has been supporting vulnerable children by restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity in place of despair.

The Objectives

VANA’s development initiatives for children and their communities are designed to break the cycle of poverty and bring long-term transformation. Key objectives include:

• Providing access to quality education for vulnerable children.

• Improving community water and sanitation systems to reduce the prevalence of diseases such as cholera.

• Raising awareness on the importance of nutrition for health and well-being.

• Increasing awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS in local communities.

Through these initiatives, VANA is not only meeting children’s fundamental needs and enhancing their quality of life but is also equipping communities with practical and social skills that build pathways to sustainable futures.
