Who are we and what do we do?

Who is Global Development Group USA (GDG USA) and what do we do?

Global Development Group, established in 2002, is a Brisbane-based, Australian-founded non-government overseas humanitarian development organisation. Our passion is to provide comprehensive quality management to help achieve development effectiveness, together with our partners, in our aid and development projects and activities around the world. Global Development Group USA, Inc. was established in 2007 as a Tennessee nonprofit 501(c)(3) grantmaking corporation that supports over 350 humanitarian and development projects in more than 50 developing countries. We work in conjunction with GDG Australia, and our approved partners, in granting funds to projects that provide comprehensive quality management to help achieve a relief to poverty and long-term solutions through quality aid and development effectiveness. Global Development Group SCIO is a non-government overseas humanitarian development organisation. Our passion is to provide comprehensive quality management to help achieve development effectiveness, together with our partners, in our aid and development projects and activities around the world.

Over 645 million people around the world live in extreme poverty (people living on less than $1.90 per day)¹ and struggle every day simply to survive. GDG USA's goal is to help improve the lives of those children, families and communities living in poverty, through the implementation of holistic, community-focused and sustainable development solutions. As well as providing relief in emergency situations, we work on long-term community development projects that address the causes of poverty and help people move towards self-sufficiency.

Can My Donation Make a Difference?

Every person who supports Global Development Group USA's work is making a difference in someone’s life in one or more of the following ways:

Providing emergency food, shelter and medical assistance to the those in crisis
Enabling children to receive an education and a training pathway so they can break the poverty cycle
Providing essential health, water, and sanitation resources so communities can thrive
Protecting children from being exploited and rehabilitating those have, while helping to locate and prosecute the perpetrators
Empowering women and men through microenterprise, so they can provide for their own families
Building the capacity of local men and women in order to increase self-reliance and reduce foreign assistance
Developing agricultural and other projects for communities to be self-sustaining
Utilizing and protecting natural resources to produce energy and the preserve the environment

How Global Development Group Selects Projects

GDG selects and approves projects that align with our mission, vision and core values. We work with potential partners and stakeholders to identify and design aid and development projects that are implemented in consultation with the local beneficiary community to identify the needs they want to address, utilising their existing resources, knowledge, skills and materials. We select projects that aim to build local capacity, empowering beneficiaries to become responsible for their own development and ensuring sustainable impact.
