The Situation
Madhipura Christian Hospital is situated in the interior of North Bihar and 5 of its surrounding districts. Healthcare facilities are abysmal with our hospital being one of the only ones in 3 districts with a fully functioning ICU and ventilator facilities. Work in the community is mainly concerned with livelihood and is focussed on the large Mahadalit (Musahars) population, demographically and existentially, the Musahars are among the poorest people groups in India.
MCH is focussing on this community as there is a large population of them in our district. We are attempting to reach out to them with healthcare, development and education opportunities, and attempting to centre our activities around them in the hope that we will be able to bring transformation at least by the next generation.
