J1070N Let's Build a School
Cambodia, Southeast Asia
In partnership with Angka Anakut Yeung and Our Future Organisation

The Situation
“Let’s Build a School" (LBS) is committed to social and economic justice through supporting and improving access to education in rural Cambodia. We believe that education empowers individuals and communities to fight poverty, oppression and to create brighter futures.
The Objectives
Let’s Build a School has been ongoing since 2013 and supports school based education programs, enhancing and adding value to primary school student opportunities. It works to encourage students to stay in school longer, expanding their access to technology, language and creative learning modalities. The program works to sustainably address poverty through enhancing educational opportunities for children, ultimately increasing their future opportunities, earning potential and wellbeing. Greater education also improves outcomes for health and wellbeing and in their future roles as parents and community members.
- In partnership with Global Development Group (GDG), and local Cambodian NGO, Our Future Organization, LBS currently supports programs at a local primary school in rural Cambodia.
- Ongoing projects include: a school vegetable garden, computer/English/library classes, health education/special medical needs, mentoring program, music and art classes, sports program, Khmer cultural programs and teacher training.
- Environmental sustainability program in collaboration with BeTreed (see J1070NC)
- Let’s Build a School works on other one-off projects to address significant need, often working in partnership with other organizations and NGOs to achieve positive outcomes. These initiatives include providing access to transportation, health services, adequate shelter, improved nutrition, and clean drinking water; all of which can provide pathways for children to stay healthy and stay in school.
