The Situation

This project will further education for vulnerable children in Nairobi who have lost their parents to HIV. The project seeks to improve access to quality education of close to 1000 vulnerable children from the poorest families. Education status is an important indicator of children’s wellbeing and future life opportunities.

Nairobi is fast becoming the economic hub of East Africa, and vocational training in computer skills will see the children of ByGrace ready for employment opportunities and connecting them to the information on the web, making them global citizens. Technology has struggled to find its way into the classroom in all sorts of ways, from projectors and televisions to computer labs and student laptops. Along with improving the way students are taught, it is also vitally important that students learn to use computers to improve their own work and prepare for careers in a world where computers have become as common as the pencil and paper.

The Objectives

1. Complete the building of the computer classroom and install computers, access to internet and digital curriculum.
2. Give educational opportunities to the children at By Grace in computer skills and literacy, access to digital literacy curriculum and vocational IT skills
