SITUATION

Located in Northeastern Thailand, in Rural Nakhon Ratchasima is the town of Phimai. And on the outskirts, surrounding this historic region are many small, closely knit villages, where people are finding themselves struggling in poverty and life has become very difficult for many of the families in the local communities.

Many children are often removed from school-based education, commonly due to financial difficulty, lack of parental support or ability to make their way to school without transport options.

Health problems have also become too common with people having to go without basic medical assistance for what many people would see as basic medical treatments. But in this region many people with common health conditions are going left untreated. Conditions worsen, symptoms become more advanced and treatment is often left too late.

Lack of income, employment and training is leaving may families without the ability to take care of many simple activities, purchasing or mending of clothes, to facilitate basic repairs to village homes that are in desperate need of repair, there is need for education to be able to grow their own food and to become more independent and self-sustainable, and to gain skills in basic work functions.

 OBJECTIVES

• Education Fund: We aim to support children in primary and secondary education to stay in school. The education funds will assist struggling families with school fees, purchasing school lunches, school supplies and assistance with transportation needs to get to and from school
• Medical fund: Raising Hope Thailand will assist vulnerable people who have basic health needs, vaccinations, dentistry, doctors’ visits, dressings for wounds, optometry needs and assistance for vulnerable women with health requirements.

Community Development Projects

• Community Garden: a place where people can meet and be educated in the art of growing sustainable produce.
• Cooking Skills training: an onsite cooking school to train youth at risk in cooking skills with the intention of securing a job or assisting them with business start-ups.
• Community Hall: A community hall where the local community can access for various purposes, such as family events, weddings, funerals, social meetings, local presentations.
• Community Coffee Shop: To give skills training and job opportunities where the community members can learn to serve their own community.
