J773N Care Development Project Indonesia

Indonesia, Southeast Asia

The Situation

Indonesia has a population of 247million. There are many urban areas in Jakarta, including slums, where children are either vulnerable or so poor that their parents can’t afford to educate them. They are caught in the poverty cycle with no escape. This project seeks to help impoverished children and teenagers out of poverty by giving them the opportunity to go to school and provide them with vocational skills training that will enable them to earn an income and change the course of their future. Two primary schools in urban slums are supported by the project. One school is constructed in a dumpsite, where parents work as recyclers, and children are at risk of being drawn into work and out of school. Children completing education will have more employment options.

 The Objective

The objective of the project is to provide quality education, support and enable disadvantaged children and youth in urban Jakarta, Bekasi and Depok and to reduce poverty in the long term through education, courses and vocational training initiatives.

The implementation of the following goals will be achieved:

  • Educate children/students to gain intellectual capability to highly perform in their studies.
  • Bring up children for their good character and moral.
  • Educate and guide children/students to achieve their full potential, dreams and ambitions.
  • Form and instill good personality and quality in students with high self-belief and confidence in students so that they can be ready in their lives and in the market place.
  • Provide scholarships to many more children in schools in other provinces in Indonesia.
