Indonesia, Southeast Asia

The Situation

In West Java, the Cirebon Medical Centre and Education project initially focused on providing free English and literacy lessons to inmates in Cirebon and Kuningan prisons, as well as children in local communities (such as the Cilimus area). It offers four lessons per week in the jail, reaching around 400-450 inmates annually, and six children’s English classes for approximately 150 kids. In 2023, the project began constructing a medical centre to address healthcare access in local communities. Additionally, it supports released inmates, aids flood-affected areas, assists with small business growth, and is negotiating a partnership with the local government for environmental protection programs. The facility will also provide rooms for training programs aimed at offering sustainable solutions to poverty in Indonesia, alongside its medical services and community support initiatives.
