Vietnam, Southeast Asia
In partnership with Children's Hope In Action and Children's Hope In Action
The Situation
In Quang Nam in Vietnam the area is quite poor, families mostly rely on farming and fishing and there is limited financial and accessibility support from the government. Therefore, children in the area have limited access to quality education, accessibility equipment or basic necessities. This negatively impacts many families' way of life.
There is a dire need to help families with disabled children in the Quang Nam area. Disabled children are generally treated with ‘shame’ in Vietnam, which prevents children from being included in society. This project aims to empower the families as well as the children in order to feel safe as well as re-integrate into society.
The Objectives
- Provide disability equipment such as wheelchairs and walking frames to disabled children.
- Provide children with basic health assessments, treatments, physiotherapy and nutritional supplements when needed.
- Provide educational scholarships to the poorest families so that every child has the opportunity to receive a full education (high school and tertiary).
