J684N Northern Thailand Village Water Projects

The Situation

The projects undertaken by the Sustainable Communities Foundation aim to provide sustainable supply systems that will provide safe drinking water to villages in Northern Thailand and further afield within the region. Some community development work will also be attempted when it is related to the main goal of water supply systems, for example trade training and community WASH education.

The Objectives

1. Projects will increase the water storage capacity so that sufficient water will be available through the dry season. Sealing the floor and walls of the dam will maximise the amount of water harvested from the ground water flowing into the dam.
2. By increasing the capacity of the water storage at source, there will be sufficient water for lasting the dry season, without having to hand-carry water.
