The Situation

South Africa is a human trafficking hotspot. It is a source, destination and transit country for trafficked victims. Labor trafficking occurs in a wide variety of industries. Sex trafficking is facilitated in numerous ways. Human trafficking is the 2nd largest criminal industry in the world reaping an estimated $32 billion in the trade of human beings.

The Global Slavery Index 2016 Report (released on 25th of May 2016) estimates that there are 248,700 modern slaves in South Africa.


The Objective


  • To remove vulnerable children from all forms of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, to provide them with medical care and to safely get them to a rescue facility where they will be given the opportunity to be renewed, rehabilitated, educated and given life skills ready to be safely reintegrated back into society.
