Australia, Oceania
The Situation
Despite Australia’s strong education system, many disadvantaged students, particularly those from low socio-economic backgrounds, remote and rural communities, Indigenous populations and refugee or migrant families, lack meaningful access to education. Systemic barriers such as poverty, disability, trauma and non-traditional learning needs leave many young people unsupported or disengaged. Financial hardship, limited access to technology, unstable housing and reduced local resources, especially in remote areas, further exacerbate inequity. Addressing these challenges requires systemic equity to ensure all students can thrive in inclusive, supportive learning environments.
The Objectives
The Hands on Heart Collective project empowers children by creating inclusive, trauma-informed spaces, online and in person, that restore confidence, a sense of belonging and connection.
The project provides:
● Free online classes and group programs
● Free and low-cost, holistic, trauma-informed curriculum
● System transition support (between school, home education, distance education, and/or the workforce)
● Assistance to re-engage with education
● Training for educators working with vulnerable youth
● Free and low-cost learning materials
● Personalised guidance for families
We focus on fostering genuine social connection and nurturing self-worth … two key predictors of long-term success.
We aim to assist 4000 Australian families and beneficiaries, with a bold long-term vision to extend our support globally.
