The Situation
Bloom Asia is an educational/training development project that works directly with vulnerable young women in Cambodia, providing them with valuable vocational skills that lead to long-term employment, dignity and value.
The Objectives
- Conduct hospitality training courses for girls referred to their programs, with formal training in café/barista skills, cookery, hygiene, workplace safety and specialist courses in cake art. All training is done through practical exercises, games and role play to ensure girls from all educational backgrounds can participate.
- Operate training cafés so that every girl can build on their training with real employment opportunities and a fair wage to provide support for themselves and their families. With over 100 graduates to date, girls are equipped with skills relevant to the hospitality industry, are able to produce world class ‘cake art’, and are supported with individual mentoring in life skills .
- Employ in-house teachers to provides literacy training for all students in Khmer or English, as many girls have never had the opportunity to attend school.
