J947N Young Seeds Scholarships

Uganda, Africa

The Situation

South Sudan is the youngest country in the world, having gained independence in 2011. The civil war since 2013 has resulted in a massive humanitarian crisis. It is estimated that over one million children have now fled South Sudan, and the country has the highest percentage (75%) of out of school children in the world (UNICEF, UNCHR, 2017).

J947N Young Seeds Project is founded on the belief that education is a fundamental human right and that all children deserve the opportunity to receive quality education. The project is built on the premise that education is the core pillar of a just and fair society, which will enhance human dignity.

The Objectives

  1. Provide residential education scholarships to young South Sudanese refugees to allow them to receive a quality education and to pursue their dreams.
  2. Resource and equip students with medical and academic support as well as ensuring they have a place of safety during holidays and breaks from school.
