Playground for disabled children in China wins international award
The design of the new playground for children with special needs at Global Development Group project J282 International China Concern, received the “Highly Commended” award for designer ‘Rehab Aid Society of Hong Kong‘, recently at the ‘Design and Health International Academy Awards 2015’, in Hong Kong.
The “Yang Yang’s Playground” in Hengyang is the first of its kind in China. It is a playground built for children of all abilities, including swings and slides for wheelchairs. The project’s children play there regularly, enjoying pleasure and opportunity for development they have never had before. Their smiles show what a difference it is making in their lives (to view the playground opening, please click on: www.gdg.org.au/J282Playground)
The playground was officially opened by Colleen Bair, the adopted Chinese daughter of an American lady who funded the project, as a legacy in honour of her daughter.
