HMAS Perth visits GDG project in Cambodia

The HMAS Perth recently visited one of the schools from Global Development Group project J672N ‘The Rural Schools Project, Cambodia’.

The visit was an overwhelming experience for the crew, and the kids and school staff loved it! It was something completely “out of the ordinary” for everyone. The school is very grateful to the Captain and the Australian Embassy in Cambodia for making the day possible.

Project J672N builds and equips schools in areas of rural Cambodia where there aren’t any. The schools are recognised by the Cambodian Government and are staffed by qualified teachers. The project ensures safe, secure and hygienic facilities, with separate facilities for girls to encourage them to attend. Wells provide safe and reliable drinking water, solar panels generate electricity for computers and IT/English teachers are supported so that students have the opportunity to learn these important modern life skills.
