Deputy Speaker of Ugandan Parliament Praises Community Radio Station

On 15 February, GDG project J746 partner IGF hosted a dinner to thank long-time partners who assisted the pioneering of its successful community radio station, seven years ago.

The chief guest, Deputy Speaker of Uganda Parliament, Oulanyah, praised the radio station for its commitment to the people and wished it every success in the future.

Members of the community shared their stories of how the radio helps them in their individual lives and brings transformation to their communities, by promoting and influencing peace, reconciliation, health, human rights and community education.

Hundreds of guests, including volunteers and friends from Australia, descended upon the Bomah Hotel , Kitgum, Uganda. Dignified guests included: Archbishop of York, John Sentamu; Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda; former Prime Minister of Uganda; other members of parliament, business and community leaders.
