Cambodia Partners Network: March 2014
GDG Partners Network in Cambodia recently participated in two training workshops on the implementation of Child Protection policy.
The workshops were delivered by Mr Sen Seny Child Protection Specialist and Mr Sann Oudam Case Manager Specialist with our partner Mith Samlanh. 16 GDG In-Country Partner organisations were represented by 48 staff including project managers, child protection officers, teachers, and other partner staff members.
The workshop style program encouraged sharing of experiences and learning from one another through discussion and role-play. There was often lively debate generated as a result of so many passionate child protection advocates together in the room. Seny shared from his extensive experience in Child Protection, drawing out the participants’ own examples and clearing up some misconceptions around approaches to child protection.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many partners responding that they have improved their understanding on the topic and will be conducting further training internally with their staff as a result of the workshop.
We appreciate that many travelled long distances to attend, from as far away as Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville, Kampong Thom, and Kampong Cham Provinces as well as from locally in Phnom Penh.
GDG wishes to thank all the participants for their enthusiastic attendance, Friends International for hosting the workshops and Sen Seny for sharing his expertise with us.
