The Sustainable Communities Foundation (SCF) works to build water systems to provide clean water for disadvantaged communities across Northern Thailand and the wider region. These communities are largely from the ethnic Hill Tribes. Functioning water systems have been built at Huai Wad, Pong Hai, San Klang, Nato Learning Centre, Wiang Klang Moo 21 as well as a replacement filtration system at Monsaengdao Ecological School.
SCF has four current projects that is undertaking in partnership with Global Development Group. These projects will improve existing water systems at the following villages:
Wiang Klang Moo11 – to build rainwater tanks for ten of the poorest households. The tanks will have enough capacity for the needs of the household for the dry season. Gutter and downpipe will be included. 1,000 villagers from 9 ethnic groups.
NamPhare – Sediment tank and filtration system. 593 villagers of Thai heritage.
Huai Nam Hak – Sediment tank and filtration system. 304 villagers of the Hmong ethnic group.
Rom Thai – Fix leaking dam wall and construct check dams. 2,000 villagers of the Shan ethnic group.
