An Incredible PNG Legacy

A recent visit to our GDG project partners in Papua New Guinea revealed the vision and commitment of those who first believed in a better world before us.

Global Development Group (GDG) makes a significant impact in Papua New Guinea (PNG) by supporting development projects that improve lives and strengthen communities. GDG partners with local communities and organisations in PNG to address key challenges in education, health, infrastructure, and economic development.

During 2 of our projects visits to PNG last month we came across the early legacy of GDG in the country.

At project J1098N in Port Moresby we came across the Norman Armstrong Dormitory. Norman Armstrong was the Father of GDG Founder, Geoff Armstrong. Norman carried out extensive work in PNG in the 80’s-90’s, opening schools, colleges and vocational centres.

The following day while at project J573N the team spotted another plaque laid by Norman Armstrong in 1992 as the foundation stone at the Sunrise Bethel International school.

Nearly 50 years later, the impact of Norman's legacy lives on through his extensive work throughout PNG including these two fantastic GDG supported projects. It was a reminder that our positive contribution today is the foundation for the future.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true measure of a person’s legacy is how they serve others and make a positive impact on the world." Martin Luther King Jr
