J352N Fiji Preschools Development Project
Fiji, Oceania
In partnership with Bethel Crusade Preschools and Global Frontier Expeditions Limited
We believe that an achievable way to reduce poverty and attain sustainable development is through providing quality early childhood education for preschool children in order to create a foundation for ongoing learning and development.
Bethel Crusade Preschools began in 1994 in Suva. We currently have seven preschools throughout Fiji. They are located in Suva, Savusavu, Labasa, Lakena, Sigatoka, Nacavanadi and Koro Island.
In each of our preschools, children wear uniforms, have set lessons and learning times, and opportunities to play. At the end of each year there is a graduation ceremony for the children who are leaving to attend primary school and continue with their education. Primary schools have stated that students who have attended a Bethel Crusade Preschool are significantly advanced in comparison to other children when they begin school.
Major Objective
To ensure Bethel Crusade Preschools are functioning effectively with facilities that meet government and OHS standards and well-equipped, trained teachers.
Goal One
Establish and upgrade preschool facilities that meet government and OHS standards.
In each of our preschools, we want to ensure there is one sanitary flush toilet for every 15 children, one sanitary flush toilet for teachers, and at least one hand basin.
Goal Two
Construct and upgrade playground facilities to meet government and OHS standards.
In each of our preschools, we want to ensure there is one fully functioning fenced outdoor play area with a playground.
Goal Three
Improve quality of education and management of the preschools through enhancing teacher capacity.
We want to ensure our preschool teachers are professionally equipped to run preschools and deliver quality education. We are aiming to run at least one preschool teacher training workshop each year.
