The Situation

 Liberia remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with over half of its population living below the poverty line. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable to poverty, as they are often denied access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. This has led to a high number of women living on the streets, struggling to survive and support their children.

Liberia has a long history of violence against women, including domestic violence, rape, and female genital mutilation. The country has also experienced two civil wars in recent history, leaving many women vulnerable to violence and displacement. Many women find themselves trapped with their abusers, with no other options for shelter and support.

There is an enormous need for safe spaces for women who are homeless or in unsafe living situations. These women need help and hope. They are in need of food, clothing and shelter. They need empowerment with vocational training so they can support themselves and their children. They need help with healing from trauma. They need to be shown they are of worth and that there is hope for a better future.

The Objectives

1.   Provide a safe and secure environment for women and their children who are homeless or experiencing/at risk of violence.

2.   Offer trauma healing programs and mental health services to help women and children cope with the trauma of homelessness, violence and abuse.

3.   Provide medical care and referrals to healthcare services to address physical injuries and illness, including hospital birth for those who are pregnant.

4.   Provide life skills training and vocational education to help women develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve economic independence and improve their quality of life.
