J1098N Bethel International Training College
Papua New Guinea, Oceania
In partnership with Adelaide Christian Centre
Bethel International Training College (BITC) is located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG). It began in the early 1970s and has seen the development and growth of national and international workers who have come through its training programs.
BITC is working in partnership with Vision International University (VIU) so we can offer accredited Certificate and Diploma level courses to our students. VIU is Internationally Accredited.
Bethel Preschool Teacher Training College (BPTTC) is one of four full-time, live-in courses offered by BITC. It equips men and women from PNG and other nations, with the necessary knowledge and skills to be effective preschool teachers. Upon completion of the course, students receive an accredited Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Many children within Papua New Guinea (PNG) do not have access to quality education for a number of reasons: remoteness, gender inequality, exclusion, and a lack of teaching and learning resources. Throughout the nation there is an overall lack of access to and availability of early childhood education meaning that a majority of students enter primary school with no educational background.
Graduates of BPTTC have begun two preschools under the banner of Bethel Christian Preschools. We are committed to establishing preschools throughout PNG, so children have an opportunity to develop a strong foundation before commencing primary school. We currently have two preschools – one in Port Moresby and the other in Gaire.
Major Objective
To have a fully functioning educational facility that will empower men, women and children through the provision of early childhood education and vocational training.
Goal One
Establish and upgrade facilities at BITC that are used daily by preschool teachers in training and preschool children.
We want to develop a bathroom for preschool children, complete our preschool playground, and perform upgrades to facilities that are used by preschool teachers in training
Goal Two
Empower men and women through the provision of vocational training courses.
In addition to our Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, we want to run short courses to train and empower more men and women.
Goal Three
Empower children through the provision of early childhood education.
We want to continue opening preschools throughout the nation using our own curriculum. We would like to graduate at least 100 children throughout this three-year project.
