The Situation
Ray of Hope is working alongside communities in Sumba, NTT and Kusuri and North Maluku. These underprivileged communities face limited access to healthcare, high rates of sexual abuse and other violence, and few positive, structured opportunities for youth. Government health services in the area are stretched, and issues such as TB and HIV have been identified by local health authorities as needing further attention.
The foundation's work is built around four pillars — Healthcare, Preventive Education, Community Empowerment, and Humanitarian Aid — delivered through six core programs: a Primary Healthcare Clinic, Mobile Clinics, Community Prevention Education, Remote Healthcare Training, Empowerment Through Sports, and Disaster Relief. Community, church and village leaders, local government health and education departments, and vulnerable groups such as women, children, youth and people with disabilities have been consulted and are supportive of this focus.
The Objectives
Goal 1: To improve access to healthcare and increase community health in Sumba and Kusuri by building and operating a training clinic in Sumba, training healthcare workers, and providing accessible healthcare to underprivileged communities.
Goal 2: To prevent sexual abuse and other violence and promote positive youth development in Kusuri and Sumba communities through education, sport and mentorship.
