The Situation

The Zambezi River Community Project is transforming vulnerable communities along the Zambezi River by creating pathways to food security, education, employment and long-term prosperity.

Despite living in a region rich in natural resources, many families face ongoing challenges with food production, unemployment and access to quality education. Young people often have limited opportunities to build a sustainable future within their own communities, contributing to cycles of poverty and dependence.

Working alongside local leaders and families, the project is creating community-led solutions that generate food, income, skills and opportunity. Through regenerative agriculture, education and enterprise, the project aims to build self-sustaining communities that can thrive for generations.

The Objectives

  1. Improve food security and household incomes through regenerative agriculture and community farming enterprises.
  2. Create sustainable employment and entrepreneurship opportunities that strengthen local economies and reduce poverty.
  3. Expand access to quality education, skills development and leadership opportunities for children and young people.
  4. Restore land and protect natural resources through sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
  5. Build self-sustaining communities by reinvesting project outcomes into education, livelihoods and future community development.
