The situation

Empowerment through education. The Global Education Project for Women (GEPW) was established in 2024 with the purpose to raise funds for education scholarships for young women in developing countries.

GEPW supports schools, charities and other organisations across the world already doing a great job educating women.

GEPW was set up in 2024 by Felicia Welstead and Ali Rehn. Two women from Melbourne, Australia, who recognise the importance of giving back and making women a priority to ensure communities prosper.

Felicia was an exchange student to the Kingdom of Lesotho in 1989 and has long wanted to support students in this small African country. Ali spent six months volunteering in Kenya at a school for girls. The committee has now been expanded to include other women with the desire to make a difference.

The objectives

Individual scholarship program - GEPW is dedicated to assisting young women who have the potential to become leaders within their community. The scholarship is designed to be the primary enabler that allows each applicant to grow and develop.

Creating Leaders - By funding the education requirements of disadvantaged young women GEPW is ensuring all potential leaders have the opportunity to shine in their communities.

Community - Through our scholarships we want every young woman to feel accepted, confident and to have a sense of belonging within their community.

Emergency funds - sometimes a tragedy might impact a country, such as war, famine or floods. At a time like this GEPW may choose to fund emergency items.

All donations are tax-deductible.
